A collective novel to cure Friedreich`s Ataxia

“Marie Schlau is a young girl whose mind is filled with dreams and plans for the future. She’s just like other girls, but for one small detail: she suffers from Friedreich’s ataxia, a highly debilitating neurogenerative disease which limits her movements”.

This book is an intriguing read, but there is another good reason to support this project and to buy the book.

It´s written by a collective of 17 authors, most of them affected by Friedreich´s Ataxia, for the purpose of raising funds for the treatment of the disease and 100 % of the income is being devoted to gene therapy research for Friedreich’s ataxia.

The specific research project is aiming to find the best way to deliver the frataxin gene to the brain.

About Friedreich´s Ataxia: This illness attacks children and young adults, crippling them and shortening their lives. This degeneration causes uncoordinated movements, scoliosis, dysphagia, dysarthria, and in many cases diabetes and serious heart problems. In a fairly short time, they are forced to use a wheelchair and to become dependent on the care of their families or third parties. Only their intellect and creative talents are left unaffected.
